Return of the Comrades Women’s Boot Camps
The Comrades Marathon is more than just a race; it’s a symbol of resilience, community and achievement. For many, it represents the pinnacle of long-distance running, and in 2025, the Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) is once again putting female runners at the forefront with the return of the Comrades Women’s Boot Camps.
Carel Nolte, CN&CO founder, CMA board member and three-time Comrades finisher, is passionate about the initiative to increase female participation in the race.
“The Comrades Marathon is a highlight on the global long-distance running calendar,” he says. “It’s a race that inspires perseverance and celebrates humanity’s potential. Getting more women involved is essential – not only from a diversity standpoint, but also to encourage a broader representation of strength and resilience in our sport.”
This women’s boot camp initiative, part of the CMA’s Runners First strategy, is designed to increase female participation in The Ultimate Human Race by equipping women with the tools, motivation and support they need to succeed.
“After the overwhelming success of the past two editions, these exclusive ladies-only boot camps promise to be a highlight for South African runners preparing for the world’s most famous ultra-marathon,” says CMA marketing & communications manager, Delaine Cools
