Fun, fitness and fundraising at the inaugural wine run
Saturday, 1 March 2025 saw a group of festive runners, dressed for fun, participating in an 8k fun run through the streets of rural Stellenbosch. The route took the runners past three wine stops along the way, where they were able to wet their whistles with some delectable vino – because hydration is key!
Starting at KleinBlouKlip, the athletes ran, walked and danced their way via a roadside mimosa stop, a visit to Waterford, and a gathering at Stellenzicht, before returning to KBK for yet more wine and a refreshing swim.
The wine run, based very loosely on the Médoc Marathon in France, was the first in what promises to be a series of annual events to raise money for charity, encourage an active lifestyle in our networks and provide a fun day out for friends and family. Our inaugural collection, which totalled more than R20 000, went to the Comrades Marathon-supported Amabeadibeadi charity drive.
Our Stellenbosch wine run complements the annual Festive Fun Run, which takes place in Johannesburg in December each year.
Big thanks to EasyEquities and ITOO for their sponsorship and assistance.
