Easy Contracts takes the pressure off indemnity signing at Comrades
Signing an indemnity form for an event as massive as the Comrades Marathon is a fundamental part of ensuring runner safety and legal compliance. With tens of thousands of athletes taking part each year, the admin around these documents can cause major delays and logistical headaches.
This year, thanks to Easy Contracts, Comrades participants had the option to sign their indemnity forms online – quickly, securely and from anywhere. More than 1 000 volunteers took up the offer.
“Indemnity forms protect and provide clarity to all,” says CN&CO founder Carel Nolte, who serves on the Comrades Marathon Association board. “They acknowledge the inherent risks of an ultra-marathon and confirm that volunteers are contributing at their own risk.
“At the same time, they allow the Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) to demonstrate its commitment to safety, accountability and due process – all crucial in an event of this scale and complexity.”

“This year, we were focused on reducing risk and increasing efficiency wherever possible,” says Carel.
