Trail running with words at Woordfees 2025
As part of the 2025 Woordfees celebrations, we’re inviting you to kick up some dust in Afrikaans – and have a whole lot of fun doing it.
Velddraf met Woorde is a light-hearted fun run (or walk!) where each participant wears a unique Afrikaans word on their chest – celebrating the creativity, humour and rhythm of the language. Whether you’re a spoedvraat (speed freak), mampoer (moonshine), or agteros (straggler), this is your chance to move your body and share in the joy of words.
The run starts and ends at KleinBlouKlip, the Stellenbosch home of CN&CO founder Carel Nolte – who is passionate about both language and movement.
“Keeping your body active and your mind sharp go hand in hand,” says Carel. “That’s why I love Woordfees – it reminds us how rich language can be. And when you combine that with physical activity and community, something magical happens.”
We’re proud to be involved in Woordfees through Carel’s long-standing support of the arts and pride in his Afrikaans heritage. Our friends at EasyEquities are also major sponsors of the festival.
So get on your drafskoene and maak ‘n draai at KleinBlouKlip, Blaauwklippen Road, Stellenbosch on 12 October 2025. All ages are welcome – even prams!
