Sponsors bring the Baobab Advantage to life at AIE 2025
The African Insurance Exchange 2025 saw over 1 000 insurance professionals and thought leaders get together in a showcase of support, innovation and industry commitment from the sponsors who helped bring the event to life. From headline sessions to evening events and networking favourites like the Golf Day, sponsors played a vital role in making the conference a success.
We spoke to Workerslife Group, Netstar and INSETA about their reasons for getting involved, their highlights from the event, and their plans for 2026.
Workerslife Group sponsored the Farewell Party which fell under the Diamond Sponsorship category. This was the second year that Workerslife Group has been a sponsor, having introduced the diamond sponsorship category in 2024
“The AIE is a platform where like-minded individuals meet,” says Group CEO Jaco Mostert. “It’s also a way of giving back to the industry by supporting the initiative of the Insurance Institute of South Africa.”
Mostert says the conference met his and his team’s expectations.
“As always, the conference was excellent!,” he says. “The organisation was top-notch, and the content was really relevant.”
A highlight for Mostert was the keynote address by Mteto Nyati.
“His insights and passion were truly inspiring,” says Mostert.
“We will definitely be back in 2026 as a sponsor, budget permitting!” he concluded.
Netstar was the sponsor of the AIE Golf Day for the third year in a row.
“In line with ‘The Baobab Advantage’ theme, our activation was designed to embody the strength, resilience and interconnectedness symbolised by the baobab tree,” said Philasande Maboa, General Manager: Insurance at Netstar. “We created an engaging environment where industry professionals could connect, share ideas and forge partnerships that will stand the test of time.
“This year was our most successful sponsorship to date, delivering not just brand visibility, but measurable business opportunities.”
Maboa says Netstar’s involvement in the AIE Conference is driven by two key reasons:
- Connection – Building stronger, deeper relationships within the insurance sector
- Collaboration – Partnering with industry peers to find solutions to shared challenges
“The 2025 conference exceeded our expectations,” says Maboa. “The theme was evident throughout – from the quality of discussions to the collaborative energy in every interaction. The event created fertile ground for ideas, much like the baobab sustains life around it.”
Two standout parts of the conference were the AIE Golf Day and the keynote on technology and resilience, which Maboa says aligned perfectly with Netstar’s mission to use telematics as a force for positive change in insurance.
“The value we derive from the African Insurance Exchange, both in terms of tangible business outcomes and in relationship-building, is unmatched. In the spirit of the Baobab Advantage, we plan to return in 2026 with an even stronger presence, deeper engagement initiatives, and creative activations that reflect our commitment to growing the industry together.”
INSETA co-sponsored the gala dinner at the 2025 AIE, having been part of the conference since 2017.
“INSETA’s involvement is driven by our commitment to supporting platforms that foster skills development, thought leadership and collaboration within the insurance sector,” says INSETA CEAO Ms Gugu Mkhize. “The conference provides valuable opportunities to engage with various stakeholders and remain aligned with emerging global industry trends.”
Mkhize found the conference insightful and engaging.
“It provided a strong platform for dialogue and knowledge-sharing, she says. “AIE2025 conference met our expectations as an authority in skills development by offering meaningful discussions that are essential for driving sector’s growth.”
Will INSETA be back in 2026?
“Yes, INSETA looks forward to continuing its partnership with the AIE and we anticipate returning as a sponsor in 2026,” says Mkhize.
