Think pink during Breast Cancer Awareness Month

If you go on to EasyEquities to make an investment, you’ll notice the Donate For Good link, which each month raises cash for a charitable organisation. This month the nominated charity is Pink Drive – not surprising, since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Many in the CN&CO team have been affected by cancer in one form or another. We’ve lost many loved ones to the disease. Even now we have a number of friends and family members who are fighting it. It just never seems to go away!

Over the years we’ve done what we can to support organisations that act against cancer. Many of us were part of the team that ran the first Daredevil Run. Back then it was organised by Etana. These days it takes place under the Hollard colours. The run raises awareness of and money for organisations that focus on cancers specific to men. This year it takes place on 31 October. Carel has done his fair share as well, having been the top Comrades fundraiser in 2014 and 2015 for Pink Drive. Now he is on the Comrades board and working with an amazing team to make even more of a difference via Comrades charities.

Carel also arranged for Pink Drive to park their vehicles safely and securely overnight on the St Stithians campus.

“Everyone should be doing something in the fight against cancer,” says Carel. “Even if you simply get yourself checked on a regular basis, it could ultimately help save your own life. Early detection is key when it comes to managing the disease.”
