Easy gets Zip Zapped…

At CN&CO, we love seeing good organisations come together around a shared purpose. That’s why we were so pleased to see EasyEquities announce Zip Zap Circus as its latest Donate for Good partner.

Zip Zap is a Cape Town-based social and professional circus that uses performance arts to empower and uplift young people from communities across South Africa. And we’ve had a soft spot for the organisation for years.

Through our work in the insurance industry, we’ve attended several events at the famous Zip Zap tent alongside clients, partners and friends, including the Insurance Institute of the Western Cape. If you’ve ever spent time there, you’ll know there’s something special about the place.

The atmosphere is warm, energetic and creative. Then the performances begin and suddenly people are flying through the air, balancing on impossible objects, tumbling across the stage and making it all look effortless. No matter how many times we’ve been, the reaction in the audience is always the same: smiles, amazement and a little bit of childlike wonder.

But what has always stood out most to us is the impact behind the scenes. There’s way more to Zip Zap than circus performances. The organisation creates opportunities for young South Africans to learn confidence, discipline, teamwork and resilience. It gives young people a place to belong and a platform to discover talents they may never have known they had.

For us, there’s also a personal connection.

CN&CO shareholder Blake Dyason runs regularly with the Hout Bay Leopards trail running group alongside Saskia van Rensburg, daughter of Zip Zap founders Laurence and Brent van Rensburg.

“Through conversations and shared kilometres on the trails, it’s become clear to me that Zip Zap is much more than a performance space,” says Blake. “For many people, it’s a community that helps shape lives and futures.”

That’s what makes this EasyEquities campaign feel like such a natural fit.

Throughout May, EasyEquities users can contribute R5, R50 or R500 to Zip Zap through the Donate for Good campaign while continuing to invest in their own futures at the same time.

“It’s a simple idea, but an important one,” says Blake. “Small contributions can make a meaningful difference when enough people get involved.”

That’s also something we’ve always appreciated about EasyEquities. They’ve helped make investing feel more accessible and less intimidating for ordinary South Africans, opening the door to people who may previously have felt excluded from the world of investing.

Now they’re using that same platform to support an organisation that is changing lives in a completely different way.

We love seeing collaborations like this.

So, next time you’re transacting on the EasyEquities platform, take a look at the Donate for Good campaign. And if you’ve never experienced Zip Zap Circus before, we’d strongly recommend adding it to your Cape Town to-do list.

You’ll leave inspired. We certainly always do.
