Ted Talk Tuesday #22 : The Proposal.

Watching TED Talks is a popular pastime at CN&CO. We visit TED.com regularly to clear our heads, have a laugh or get inspired. TED Talks open our minds, spark new ways of thinking and can lead to some very interesting conversations. Each week we pick a favourite and publish it on a Tuesday, because we like how “TED Talk Tuesday” sounds.

This week’s talk was selected by CN&CO team member Rikus Kok. Here’s why he chose it:

The Proposal…

It is so easy to become someone or something that you really aren’t.

About three years ago I came across a vine video that changed my life, not only was it hilarious but it also encouraged me to start making amateur videos. It showed me how something so small and easy can be so effective. His name is Jerome Jarre  and the video he posted was called “why is everybody afraid of love?”

You are the main character in the game we call life. And the proposal is that if you are not happy with the character that you are in life that you will  “reset” and create the character that you want to be and someone that will make you as a person happy.

So go out, face your fears, surround yourself with people that will have a positive impact on your life, take what you do seriously and not yourself and most importantly, be yourself.

My proposal for you is to hit that “reset” button, even if you think your life is awesome there is always space for improvement. Do things that are out of your comfort zone and make a positive change around you.

The Proposal…

Talented in music and the arts, Rikus not only has the voice, but also a natural eye for events. His attention to detail, organisational skills and ability to keep things moving are unique. He is also a people’s person and is always ready to embrace the festivities and the dance floor!
