TED Talk recommendations from Bill Gates

We visit TED.com regularly to clear our heads, have a laugh or get inspired. TED Talks open our minds, spark new ways of thinking and can lead to some very interesting conversations. Each week we pick a favourite and publish it on a Tuesday, because we like how “TED Talk Tuesday” sounds. Follow this link to view some of the of TED Talks that have fascinated the team.
I certainly find the ideas and concepts that are discussed on the TED platform very formative to part of my thinking. Since inception there have been 133 TED Talk Tuesday posts, which have cover a wide variety of topics from – art at burning man; weigh-loss tips; sustainability; productivity hacks; and many more.
This week, Carel shared an article with me which referenced a TED playlist where Bill Gates (the co-founder of Microsoft) recommended thirteen of his favourite talks. The playlist was compiled in 2014, but many of the talks contain lessons which we can still learn from today.
You can watch them all here. It is also great how he shared a few words on why the talks interested him and what were his main take aways.
The talk that stood out for me was a talk by Salman Khan, the founder of the Khan Academy. Salman talks about how and why he created the remarkable Khan Academy, a carefully structured series of educational videos offering complete curricula in math and, now, other subjects.

Really enjoyed reading this! I also find TED Talks to be a great way to reset and get fresh ideas – Salman Khan’s talk on building Khan Academy is one of my all-time favourites too. What struck me is how these talks often connect to real-life problem solving, whether in education, business, or even social support systems.
