Join the TED Countdown this weekend
TED provides a platform to share ideas, encourage action, think differently and drive change. Joshua was first made away of the Countdown initiative when Carel shared it with me while he was attending this year’s TED Women event in Palm Springs. Fast forward a couple of months and the world is in a significantly different space.
The Countdown has brought together leading minds, young and old, in an attempt to develop a net zero greenhouse emission world by 2050. An achievable target, but one that requires us to work together to achieve it.
As a collective, watching TED Talks is a popular pastime at CN&CO. We visit TED.com regularly to clear our heads, have a laugh or get inspired. TED Talks open our minds, spark new ways of thinking and can lead to some very interesting conversations. Each week we pick a favourite and publish it on a Tuesday, because we like how “TED Talk Tuesday” sounds. You can check out all the talks we have shared in this series here.
The Countdown is a little different to what had originally been planned. Never the less it is still inspiring action and encouraging us to recognise that we need to work to together to address the challenge in front of us. Quite simply we cannot afford not to act.
The day will feature 5 sessions:
Session 1: Urgency
Session 2: Leadership
Session 3: Transformation
Session 4: Breakthroughs
The list of speakers offers a diverse set of views, opinions, activists, political leaders, entrepreneurs and more.

These days, the future of our planet can seem pretty bleak, but Dr. Jane Goodall (@JaneGoodallInst) wants you to know there's hope. All of us share the responsibility to preserve our planet. The power is in your hands: What are you choosing to do today? Click the link in bio to watch her full talk.
Countdown is a global initiative to champion and accelerate solutions to the climate crisis, turning ideas into action. The goal: To build a better future by cutting greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030 in order to achieve a zero-carbon world – a world that is safer, cleaner and fairer for everyone.
