Recapping InsureTalk 7 – The Accelerated Cyber Threat

A jam-packed agenda greeted attendees of InsureTalk 7. The theme for the day was, “The Accelerated Cyber Threat”, we heard insights from leading experts and in true CN&CO Events style there was a surprise entertainer to give the attendees a mid-morning break.

InsureTalk has helped to connect thousands of insurance professionals over the last couple of months. It has educated, entertained and inspired insurance professionals across Southern Africa.

Here’s a quick recap of the seventh edition of this virtual event. Thank to the headline partner, Santam Insurance, and all the members of the industry who joined the event.

To kick things off, Simon Colman of SHA Risk Specialists discussed “How to approach cyber risk from an underwriter’s perspective”.

Next up on the agenda was an industry update from Thokozile Mahlangu, CEO of the Insurance Institute of South Africa.

The surprise entertainment for the day was Niël Rademan, who is a talented musician and runs Hessequa Harmonie, which a few of the CN&CO team attended in September.

Hessequa Harmonie is an arts festival that focuses on classical music, showtunes, drama and art. This unique festival is held in the Southern Cape in the beautiful town of Heidelberg, located in the Hessequa municipality. Read more here.

Following the performance break, Zamani Ngidi from Aon, shared insights on “The broker value and the risk during the needs analysis/cover selection process”.

“Risk mitigation tools for businesses.” This was the topic Charl Ueckermann from AVeS unpacked.

To close off the day, Matthew Garrun from Garrun Group prompted us to think of A New Era of Cybersecurity after COVID-19.
