Where were you at noon on Wednesday, 30 August 2023?

… and what song was on your mind?

The CN&CO team really are all over the place – geographically speaking, that is! It’s part of our lifestyle business approach: being able to work wherever we are and finding a balance that helps us and our partners to succeed in all areas of life. Here’s where we were at noon on 30 August 2023. This month’s day was picked by Stella – here’s what she and the rest of the CN&CO team were doing at noon – and what songs were going through our heads at the time.

Stella:

At noon I was occupying space at the office of our ERP client, epic ERP – getting on with admin, my to-do list and catching up with the team there. I really do love spending time at various clients’ offices and generally spread my weekdays between them. I find it recharges me and keeps me connected to what’s happening with their businesses.

The song that summed up my day, which is a total 90s banger (purely because Mix FM was on in the background) is Pump up the Jam, by Technotronic. The music video is classic!

Colin:

I’m working on a media release for RMB about the upcoming UTCT Trail Run, which RMB sponsors, and which takes place at the end of November. I’m chatting to the most interesting people who are involved in the preparation of the athletes and the course itself, which runs along the mountain trails of the Cape Peninsula, from Table Bay in the north to Cape Point in the south. Participants can choose to take on either the 100-mile (167km), 100-kilometre, 55-kilometre, 35-kilometre or 23-kilometre trail. Entries are selling out fast! Get yours here.

Of course, the best song to go with writing about mountains and rivers is this one:

Kurt:

Today has been a goodie, a.k.a. very productive with back-to-backs all day. I was late with my Where Were You at Noon submission as I was with a broker, discussing Ami. So good to hear their praises about the incredible service they are receiving. I’ve now just stepped off a procurement call and then going to catch up on some admin, before heading to Pilates. Yes you heard right, Pilates. 🙂

Kurt’s chosen song is the same as Josie’s – It’s a Beautiful Day by Jermaine Edwards… the one with Rushawn and The Kiffness. It’s such an amazing colab. Let’s watch the video:

Carel:

I’m at a farewell lunch for my EasyEquities team mate Jess Hartogh, who has been a huge part of our brand since 2015. I met her when she worked below the CN&CO offices on Corlett Drive

Rikus said – you must meet this amazing person … I did and the rest is history! CN&CO network is all about people 🙂

One of my favourite songs is “Top of the World” by The Carpenters. Give it a listen – it’s really uplifting!

Llewellyn:

Today is a sunny day in Cape Town and I’m proud of some of the great projects CN&CO Events is working on at the moment. Some days are hard and the team works hard to make ideas turn into moments, but today we are taking a moment to feel proud of what we have done the last couple of months and what still lies ahead for the rest of 2023. Well…and 2024 as we are full speed ahead planning a spectacular AIE2024.

Here’s the song that’s on my mind at the moment :

Blake:

At Beach Bar in Hout Bay sending out invites to the launch of the Plastic Changemakers programme: a very exciting and FREE education programme for primary schools and NPOs put together the Breteau Foundation.

Thinking about a song that represents my day, I would have to say “Walk” by Foo Fighters.

Last night I watch the documentary Get Me to 21 on Showmax. It’s about Jenna and her amazing family fighting for Jenna to get a double lung transplant. I became quite close to Jenna and her family, and the night they got the call that there were lungs available for her I was watching the Foo Fighters live and the song “Walk” was playing as Gabi, Jenna’s mom, shared the news.

Go watch the documentary, it’s an incredible story.

Here are the Foo Fighters:

Harry and I were at Dischem at noon. Getting the kids healthy before they head back to school next week!

Stella is a marketing all-rounder. Her strengths lie in big-picture thinking and bringing it all together. She likes to work and train hard and will not shy away from a challenge. She is also Greek, so #winning!
