Malachi Place of Safety making Christmas really special

A celebration that fills our hearts with warmth is the annual Malachi Place of Safety Christmas party.

Audrey Brummer and her dedicated team host this joyous occasion, bringing together children who have spent time in Malachi Place of Safety. For some, this home served as a stepping stone to new safe environments, while others found the comfort of loving families. Despite the challenges inherent in the system, Malachi Place of Safety stands as a sanctuary where these children find safety and love, forming lasting connections with their caregivers and fellow residents.

Audrey’s commitment to the well-being of these children extends far beyond their time in the home. Even after they’ve moved on, she continues to keep a watchful eye. The annual Christmas party becomes an important opportunity for Audrey to reconnect with these kids, offering a space for shared laughter, stories, and cherished memories.

The festivities are as diverse as the children themselves. From the younger ones enjoying jumping castles and obstacle courses to teenagers playing indoor soccer matches, the venue is alive with energy. Amidst the laughter, shouting, singing, and playing, there’s a special moment that unites everyone – the sound of jingling bells heralding the arrival of Santa Claus.

As the children hush, eagerly anticipating Santa’s entrance, the air is filled with Christmas carols. Each child receives a personalised, wrapped gift from Santa, often the only gift these children will receive during the holiday season. Additionally, each child is given a meal pack to take home.

None of this would be possible without the incredible generosity of donors and sponsors. We are immensely grateful for the support that has made the annual Malachi Christmas Party possible. Among the many contributors, we’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to CN&CO and Easy Equities for hosting a charity run in Johannesburg to raise funds for Malachi. The French School of Cape Town’s young students also dedicated their time and efforts, to selling stuff at the school market to raise funds for the Christmas party. And a special shout-out to Food Lovers Market for their generosity in supplying all the food and drinks for the celebration.

Your support has made Christmas really special for these children. Thank you.

Malachi Place of Safety will use any left over money to help with school clothes and stationery. If you are interested in supporting Malachi Place of Safety, please email blake@cnandco.com or make a donation:
