Willis Re guests #DiscoverJoburg

Between 18 and 21 April 2016 CN&CO had the opportunity to host Willis Re’s international guests by tailoring four evenings to give them a taste of Johannesburg. The first two nights were spent at Constitutional Hill and the relaxed ambiance of Maboneng’s, Living Room. We rounded up the final two nights taking in a special view of the Joburg skline at Higher Ground, and taking in a relaxed atmosphere at Nelson Mandela Square.

Upon arrival at Higher Ground guests were greeted by a magnificent view of Joburg-by-night. With Sandton lit up on one side, and the Joburg CBD on the other, the experience was like no other. Guests enjoyed an amazing three-course meal in a relaxed atmosphere, with live music performed by musician John. The festivities picked up swiftly after dinner where Rikus led the group in song, and went on to perform a vibey dance routine complete with back up dancers!

The final night was arranged at Nelson Mandela Square where the casual atmosphere of Sandton City allowed the guests to unwind and reflect on the past week’s training and evening activities. The highlight was undoubtedly the iconic statue of South Africa’s great leader, Nelson Mandela. The guests were immediately drawn to the tribute to Tata, taking photo’s and gathering around it whilst particularly raising reflections from the past Monday night’s outing to Constitution Hill.

The guests then enjoyed a fine and relaxing dinner at the Big Mouth restaurant where Gianluca Tucci and Rikus Kok (from CN&CO) hosted them with CEO of Willis Re, Natalie van de Coolwijk. Much like the precious evenings, laughter, discussions and a festive atmosphere was experienced.

Rikus Kok, who arranged the plans for the four nights says, “It was such a pleasure getting to know everyone. It always is special to meet people from different parts of the world, talk and share experiences and laughter. We wanted to give everyone a special experience of Johannesburg that balanced heritage, relaxation and appreciation of the city’s beauty and good food.”

The final night concluded with each guest being handed a gift bag with a few items that are from South Africa to help them reflect and remember their experience. This included: a Willis Re beaded key ring made by a local Joburg resident, a Marmite jar, Zambuk and a packet of Lion matches.

A big thank you to Natalie and the Willis Re team for giving us the chance to host the guests. It is special when a group of people come together to meet, experience and create new memories.
