Ndlovu Youth Choir at AIE2019

SA choir on America’s Got Talent again

The Ndlovu Youth Choir have had a phenomenal 2019 so far. Their journey continues to excite, unite and energise South Africa and the world. Their latest achievement of auditioning for America’s Got Talent (AGT), one of the biggest talent show stages in the world, has South Africans bursting with pride.

Following four unanimous “YES” votes from the judges the choir progressed through to the next round. Their official audition video on the AGT YouTube channel has had over 5 million views and various versions of the audition on different platforms has the total views close to 10 million.

We are delighted to announce that the choir will be back on AGT on Tuesday 16 July in the next AGT episode that airs on NBC at 7pm Eastern American Time and 1am SA time on Wednesday morning.

Will they progress to the next round and again showcase our rainbow nation to hundreds of millions of worldwide viewers?

The Ndlovu Youth Choir is part of the Ndlovu Care Group (www.ndlovucaregroup.co.za) and is based in the Moutse village in South Africa’s Limpopo province. It’s a remote, rural area, about two hours’ drive from Johannesburg – and about as far removed from the Los Angeles music scene as you’re likely to get.

Since its inception in 2009, the choir has profoundly affected the lives of the choristers and demonstrates the potential of any human being to achieve excellence no matter their background, education or place of birth. From its humble beginnings as an after-school activity the choir has evolved into a truly outstanding professional ensemble.

The choir is part of the Ndlovu Care Group’s globally acclaimed childcare community programme. The care group’s vision is “Creating healthy, responsible and self-sustaining communities in rural South Africa”.

The choir aims to ensure that a child from a disadvantaged community can enjoy the same musical tuition, care and opportunities as a child from a more affluent society. The choir creates a place of comfort and care – nurturing values such as self-discipline, self-confidence, tolerance, respect and leadership in our choristers.

2019 has had a few highlights for the choir—from auditioning at AGT to being awarded the African Music Award at Europe’s most prominent African Music Festival in Germany. Last year they performed a hit collaboration with Grammy® winning flautist, Wouter Kellerman, featuring a Zulu version of Ed Sheeran’s hit Shape of You.

It was special to have the choir join us at the African Insurance Exchange in Sun City today. They shared their infectious energy with the delegates and reminded us all of the power of music.

They are definitely making their infectious energy famous. Let’s join together and unite the nation with the energy and pride the choir are creating.
