Art and the creative economy

The creative economy is extremely powerful and can teach us many lessons. The Turbine Art Fair (TAF) took place earlier in July at 10 Fricker Road Illovo,  in Johannesburg. I was fortunate enough to attended the opening of this year’s art fair. I was reminded of the power of art and the creativity on display was incredibly thought provoking. One of the reasons art fascinates me is because of the different interpretations people can have related to one of art piece.

RMB is committed to unlocking talent and the growth of the creative economy. The RMB Turbine Art Fair provides a platform to develop young artists and grow the market for African art. The were some stunning pieces on display this year and it is exciting to see RMB’s support of this space.

RMB’s love for the arts shows clearly in its incorporation of multiple artworks in and around its Merchant Place campus in Sandton. Art is part of the RMB DNA (which is one of the reasons we love working with the RMB team) and the bank is widely known for the support it lends to artists and the arts in general.

Their Merchant Place campus in Sandton is well worth a visit. There are multiple art works on display. Look out for the QR codes next to the art works, scan them and learn more about the story by each art piece. We can all learn more from the creative economy, let’s look for art in everything that we do and tell more stories.
