Carel and Christelle to share ‘people’ stories at HR Indaba

The 2019 HR Indaba takes place at the Sandton Convention Centre on 16 and 17 October. It’s a massive event that covers the complete gamut of HR interests, from AI and machine learning to dealing with stress and burnout in the workplace.

Of course, our favourite slot is the storytelling session, where Carel Nolte of CN&CO and Christelle Colman of specialist underwriters Elite Risk Acceptances, will share a number of stories based on their experiences dealing with people.

This particular session, entitled “HR stepping up to the plate; creating value in the 21st century”, takes place on day one of the conference – Wednesday, 16 October – at 2pm in Boardroom 2.

“Storytelling is a great way of sharing experiences and ideas, problems and solutions, and to get a message across in a non-lecturing kind of way,” says Carel, who has been formally involved in HR since the mid-2000s. “I think our ‘one-on-one’ session will be hugely informative and entertaining for HR professionals.”

Christelle herself has oodles of experience dealing with people, with a career spanning a variety of insurance and service-related roles.

“No matter what industry you are in, you will find people at the centre of everything you do,” she says. “I look forward to sharing and hearing stories at the HR Indaba with Carel – and also to the inevitable conversations that will follow.”

According to the HR Indaba website, almost 3 000 HR professionals are already registered for “Africa’s biggest HR conference and expo.” Registration is free for HR professionals, although – for a small fee – you can still attend if you’re not in HR.
