Podcasts: Opening our eyes
Over the last few weeks, I have taken a deep dive into the world of Artificial Intelligence (AI). It’s a space that requires continuous learning and the blogs that I have written are just a pin prick in the vast opportunities that this space presents.
In thinking about intelligence and our future, my mind starts to work through the different models that surround us – from business models; to educational systems; and to seeing how natural systems are changing and adapting.
Google defines intelligence as “the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills”. A broad definition and I am sure it will be challenged on a few levels.
There are two sides to every coin and for some people, AI is incredibly daunting and dangerous. While I am conscious of the “bad side” of AI, the possibilities that it enables outweigh the dangers.
The space of AI is asking us to think differently, to take a new road, and in simple terms it is forcing us to open our eyes. History can teach us a lot about how we have responded to innovations in the past as a species and how we have used these inventions to change the path that we are on. You just have to think about the steam engine or the first flight of an aeroplane to realise that the field of AI is another invention that will drive our development into the future.
With evolving technology, models need to change and our intelligence will be challenged. So, let’s open our eyes and minds. Apply the learnings received through feedback and give ourselves the space to think.
