Podcasts: Connecting the world

In the digital era and the days of the gig economy we are surrounded by technology. The number of data points grow daily and data centres are exploding as we need space to store the new oil. Over the last 5 years there has been an 83% growth in the number of internet users globally – 2014, there were 2.4 billion users and in June 2019 there over 4.4 billion users…

Technology, improved computer power, and an ever-growing number of data touch points means that the world can at times move at a million miles an hour. We are constantly connected to technology and can easily forget about the importance of people, as get swept up in the fast-paced world.

While technology is great and I love “geeking” out thinking/learning/reading about the latest tech. It’s vital to take a step back and evaluate where you are or what you are building. If you don’t you run the risk of utilising technology for the sake of which is a dangerous path to go down if you haven’t thought deeply about the solution/problem that you are addressing.

This week I have been reminded of the importance of human connections in our ever-growing digital world. While tech does play a significant role in connecting us to other individuals in the world, let’s not forget to make time for human connections.
