‘Donate for Good’ to KZN Hospice via EasyEquities
The “Donate for Good” function on the EasyEquities website and app provides investors with an opportunity to contribute to a chosen cause each time they make an investment via the platform.
“Every few weeks, EasyEquities gives the investors on our platform the opportunity to donate to an established charity,” says Standwa Nongauza on the EasyEquities blog.
So far there have been 10 non-profit organisations feature on the Donate for Good facility and more than R300 000 has been raised.
“Think of Donate for Good as the tin canisters you see at the tills of retail franchises in SA – you can donate some change or multiple times, whatever you can give is welcome,” says Standwa.
You can contribute by clicking or tapping on the Donate for Good button when next you transact on EasyEquities.

The History of Hospice
The idea of hospice goes back at least as far as the 4th Century AD, when monasteries and other religious orders opened their doors to pilgrims, the elderly, and the seriously ill. It was based on the principle of simple charity, and was as much about feeding the hungry and giving weary travellers a place to rest for a night as it was about caring for the dying or healing the sick.
South Coast Hospice is situated in the UGU District of KwaZulu-Natal and was founded in 1983. Our care and support programmes have been adapted over the years to meet the needs of a changing world. The quality care and support of people living with terminal illnesses is always the first priority. However, against a backdrop of poverty, a lack of resources and discrimination, this little Hospice has met the needs of thousands of people and their families over the years. South Coast Hospice is a Non-Profit Organisation that is totally dependent on donations and funders for our sustainability.
The palliative care philosophy is to provide an interdisciplinary support structure with a holistic approach. Where not only care for the body (illness/symptoms), but also mind (psychosocial – trauma, grief and bereavement) and soul (beliefs, culture and religion) is taken in account
We offer the following services/programmes:
- Hospice at home, home care services
- Inpatient Unit for symptom control, respite and end of life care
- Cancer screening for early diagnosis
- HIV and Chronic medication distribution – we are an approved pick-up point, ensuring that the barriers to adherence are minimised, by providing efficient and dignified service
- Support Groups for survivors, GBV, LGBTQIA, HIV infected and affected children and youth, trauma, grief and bereavement counselling
- Psychosocial support
- Training and skills development for community members and staff (Introduction to Palliative Care, Home Based Care and HIV Counselling)
- Mobile Clinic for outreach programmes and screenings – TB, Cancer and Covid
14 710 beneficiaries received care and support in our last financial year.
