Cast your vote in the Discovery RISE short film competition
Are you keen to watch some stirring South African short-short films? Jozi Film Festival, Save the Children South Africa (SCSA) and the Discovery Channel are running a competition called Discovery RISE, which matched 10 filmmakers with 10 SCSA storytellers (beneficiaries, partners and staff) to share their touching tales.
The competition received more than 250 entries, of which the top 10 were selected and funded to make their films. Each of the storytellers also received a contribution towards their academic or professional development.
You can watch the top 10 films, which are all under three minutes long, on DStv (Discovery Channel, Discovery Family, Food Network, HGTV, ID, Real Time, TLC and Travel Channel) or on the Jozi Film Festival website.
The winner of the competition will be decided by popular vote… and that’s where you come in. You can vote for your favourite by texting its corresponding number to 060 070 2653. The winner will receive a brand new Canon camera, while one lucky voter will win R1000 in cash.
Voting closes on 10 December at 12 noon (CAT) and the winners will be announced on 11 December.
