Here are the topics for the 2024 AIE Conference

The Insurance Institute of South Africa and the South African Insurance Association, hosts of the 2024 African Insurance Exchange, have revealed the line-up of topics for this year’s conference. Covering a diverse array of themes spanning the life and non-life industries, healthcare, ESG, and diversity, equality and inclusion, the programme promises something of interest for every professional in the insurance sector.

“We are delighted to announce that the conference topics have been finalised!” says Thokozile Mahlangu, CEO of IISA. “We are very happy with the breadth of content and look forward to the depth that will be added by our carefully curated speakers.”

Here’s the full list of topics:

DAY 1

Topic 1 – The foundations of insurance, evolution and looking ahead – what can be learnt

Topic 2 – How the evolution of insurance is shaping the fundamentals of the business of insurance

Topic 3 – Will generative AI be part of everyday life?

Topic 4 – Is ESG embedded into business operations and corporate strategies to create value?

Topic 5 – Reimagining life insurance

Topic 6 – Insurers evolving to address the changing operating environment and greater societal impact

DAY 2

Topic 1 – The future of healthcare is brighter than ever

Topic 2 – Alternative energy solutions

Topic 3 – Operational resilience in a changing environment

Topic 4 – The growing protection gap is indicative of insurers struggling to design products fit for evolving risks

Topic 5 – Optimising technology to supplement human capital

Topic 6 – Navigating the competition or coopetition paradox to foster innovation in the insurance industry

Topic 7 – Could cyber-attacks lead to a pandemic?

Themed “Foundation. Foster. Fearless.”, AIE 2024 is scheduled to take place at Sun City from 21 to 24 July, offering a live-stream option for remote participation.

Mahlangu says the organising committee anticipates an audience of over 1 000 insurance industry professionals from South Africa and beyond.

The attendance costs for the event are as follows:

Payment is required within 14 days of registration. Prices are exclusive of VAT, accommodation, transport and recreational activities. Non-members attending the conference will receive a complimentary one-year IISA membership.
