CN&CO welcomes Stella Carter to the family

I would rather be someone’s shot of tequila than everyone’s cup of tea! – Stella Carter

CN&CO has recently welcomed Stella Carter to the familia and we couldn’t be more excited to have her join.

Stella, a mom of two and wife to Fergus, has been making magic and transforming the advertising, brand and marketing industry for most of her working life. Stella brings with her a heap of knowledge, creativity, “gees” and strategic experience.

“I like to leave an impact in every engagement and interaction, big or small. Whether it’s a catch up with a friend that leaves both of us feeling better about ourselves, our lives, our day – or it’s with a client who feels heard, valued, understood and seen – adding value to those engagements, adds value to my own life and makes me feel like a key component in the bigger picture” mentioned Stella.

“I have been in client facing roles my whole working life and have encountered some interesting people along the way. I love people, they fascinate me. People watching is one of my secret passions…. I could get lost in it for hours if left unsupervised!

“As I progressed through different jobs, roles and industries in my working career, I learned that the most important part of every engagement is to remember that everyone wants to be seen and everyone wants to be heard and those two things come in many different forms and requires a bit of empathy to truly understand the other person. When it comes to business, more specifically,  the business of marketing, it’s about connections. If you can connect with your audience in an way that is authentic and real and they can relate to – then you have a recipe for success.

“As with most situations in life, when it comes to people and building relationships (for business or personal) there is a fair amount of adapting and adjusting that needs to happen, to find the point of mutual connection. Learning not to take everything too personally and remembering the end goal, helps keep those emotions at bay and keeps your focus in check. I didn’t always have a thick skin and am still very attuned to changes in someone’s energy towards me. But over the years, as I grew older and matured, I learned that, just like tequila, you may not be for everyone, and that’s OK! Always be authentic, and always keep the end goal in mind.”

Our Kurt Solomon had a few fun questions for Stella:

What is something that recently made you smile?

I am an avid runner and I have been training to get faster and stronger over shorter distances. I recently ran my first 10km race (I usually run half and full marathons) and exceeded my goal time of 42m58sec. My final time was 42m05sec. I also placed 2nd lady overall and 1st veteran lady in. this made me smile BIG!!

If you can travel anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would you go?

New York City – I have always wanted to go.

What was your first job?

I worked behind the deli at the Spar in Edenglen. I sliced meat! Needless to say, I am a vegetarian today…
