From generators to jet planes – Jo’burg residents have heard it all!

By Stella Carter

Johannesburg, the bustling metropolitan city at the heart of South Africa, is no stranger to excitement. This time, in the form of jet planes, taking to the sky! With the BRICS Summit taking place over the past three days at the Sandton Convention Centre, these loud birds of the sky have taken it upon themselves to serenade the city with their thunderous roars.

From Sandton to Centurion they orchestrated a symphony of decibels as if ensuring that every single resident is blessed with their unmistakable presence.  Some may even say it was a welcomed change from the melodious sounds of generators and hadedas….some, but not all!

But amidst the chaos and deafening sounds there is an air of excitement around the what these sounds mean. The BRICS summit holds significant importance for South Africa as it facilitates economic cooperation and participation in global governance. It is a key platform for attracting investment, political diplomacy and promotion of African development. It provides a platform to amplify South Africa’s influence and engage with influential emerging economies, ultimately contributing to our own socio-economic growth and the advancement of the broader African continent.

So Johannesburg (and the greater surrounds), embrace the chaos and the delightful serenade provided by the jet planes above, knowing you were a part of a unique, larger-than-life experience!

Tomorrow we go back to the generators and hadedas you have grown to love…….
