What proactive steps are you taking to address COVID-19?

On 7 January 2020, ‘Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2’ (SARS-CoV-2) was confirmed as the causative agent of ‘Coronavirus Disease 2019’ or COVID-19. Since then COVID-19 has spread around the globe and countries are taking proactive steps to flatten the curve and prevent the transmission of the virus.

On Sunday the 15th of March 2020, we published a blog (COVID-19. Why you need to act now) following President Cyril Ramaphosa’s address to South Africa where he declared a National State of Disaster.

A number of our partners and leaders in our immediate community have taken proactive steps and showcased how we must not panic during this time, but take the implications of COVID-19 seriously.

On Friday, 13 March 2020, they hosted a training workshop in their training centre and branches to create awareness and provide preventative measures that their valued staff and stakeholders can implement.  Informative information packs were handed to all staff and posters put on the walls around the office. Participants can complete their assessments online without any physical intervention required, and support will be provided through email and telephonic means. Furthermore, they encouraged the use of technology in the form of telephonic and video conferencing for meetings as well as selection and development feedback sessions – a process that the majority of their clients already follow.

For the last 8 months we have been working with a partner to implement ISO 27001 controls, so we have the relevant contingency plans in place to ensure continued business operation. We are also taking the appropriate steps as a business to combat the spread of COVID-19 through practicing social distancing and encouraging our team to where possible substitute onsite meeting with teleconferences through MicrosoftTeams and Zoom.

  1.  Corona virus – free online workshop on Corona virus, in partnership with our e-learning partners
  2. We are replacing all contact sessions with a National online support schedule – dates to be advised, once we receive feedback from all of our clients
  3. Summative assessments will take place at the end of the programme, as formal exam conditions need to be adhered to
  4. Formative assessments will be supported by online facilitation, whatsapp communities specific to your organisation and qualifications that your employees are currently on
  5. We are currently in discussions with all of our partners, to offer data free learning
  6. We are committed to continuing to provide excellent services
  7. We will honour all meetings virtually
